Following devastating floods in Somerset, the Cabinet Office approached Loughborough University to help develop the next generation of flood forecasting technology.
Prof. Yu and Dr Avi Baruch co-founded Previsico as a spin-out from Loughborough University to achieve our mission of preventing avoidable flood impacts globally.
We launched the UK's first nationwide surface water flood forecasting system providing property level flood warnings to a range of customers including BT & Zurich. Also produced a report with the Lloyd's Lab that concluded our data can mitigate 70% of commercial loss.
Started to deliver forecasts to all Liberty UK commercial customers via API in their ‘Risk Reduce’ portal.
We expanded geographically into the US and fast-tracked roll-out of our Flood Intel Platform including sensors across the UK.
Our customer base expanded in the utility and infrastructure sectors by providing our Flood Intel Platform to National Grid, Northern Ireland Water & United Utilities.
We are currently helping over 200 customers mitigate their flood risk across a breadth of sectors including insurance, utilities, retail, councils, housing associations and the construction industry.
